3D Systems expands in Europe with its digital denture printer
4 November 2026Škoda offers car accessories as free 3D printable files

On 19 October 2026, Škoda Auto launched “Printly Clever”, a new scheme that offers in-car accessories as free digital files. Owners download the files from Škoda’s profile on Printables.com, adapt them to their needs if they wish, and print them on their own 3D printers at home.
The first selection focuses on everyday items: cupholders, phone brackets, cable organisers, coin boxes, storage boxes, and a USB cable holder and cap hook for seat-back pockets. So far the most popular item is a hook that fits the unused top tether (ISOFIX) anchor point. Many of the parts slot into existing storage compartments without any modification to the car, and they are not limited to one model: files are available for current Škodas and for many discontinued ones.
The parts for the electric Epiq and Peaq came directly from customer suggestions: cupholder covers, a large box tray, a lower console organiser, and a clip-on cupholder for the Peaq’s folding table that fits both standard and large cups. The designs come from Škoda’s innovation incubator together with its engineering and design teams. The company says the approach avoids the tooling, inventory and long lead times of conventional production, and that feedback on Printables will guide which designs come next. Škoda says it is the first carmaker to offer such accessories through a dedicated platform. According to Auto Express, the company recommends heat-resistant material so that parts do not deform in a car parked in the sun.
Why it matters
distributing accessories as files rather than making them in a factory and holding them in a warehouse shows the idea of “digital spare parts and accessories” reaching consumers. For Türkiye, with its strong automotive and supplier industry, this model points to new business opportunities in tool-free, stock-free, on-demand production. Automotive applications of additive manufacturing like this will also be on the agenda at EXPO3D Istanbul 2027 (30 September – 2 October 2027, Istanbul Expo Center).
